San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA

Architect: HOK, San Francisco, CA and Mario Botta Architecture, Lugano, Switzerland

The SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast to focus on modern and contemporary art. Founded in 1935, the Mario Botta Building is now an iconic landmark in the South of Market District. Charles M. Salter Associates provided acoustical design including mechanical equipment noise and vibration reduction recommendations for the museum. The project scope included exhibit galleries, a 278-seat multi-purpose auditorium, a library, and offices. Subsequently, our firm consulted on the expanded retail area and education center, providing extensive audiovisual design services throughout the facility.
