Sen Spa, San Francisco, CA

Architect: TSAO Design Group, San Francisco, CA

Originally a WWI army barrack, the 13,000 square foot building located on the edge of the Presidio is now home to an upscale, holistic, Zen-like day spa. The interior features a tea garden, steam sauna, treatment rooms, and private whirlpool tubs. Preservation codes have protected the historical redwood structure, so the original beamed ceiling and wooden floors are exposed amid the modern interior. Charles M. Salter Associates recommended measures for controlling mechanical ventilation noise, reducing reverberation and echoes within rooms, and minimizing noise transmission between adjacent spaces. Our firm's audiovisual engineers developed a distributed audio system that features user selectable audio programs within treatment rooms.
