U.S. Post Office Processing + Distribution Center, Oakland, CA

Client: Parsons, Walnut Creek, CA

Located less than 100 feet from the BART tracks, the occupants of the Administrative Tower at the Oakland Processing and Distribution Center experienced significant speech interference problems during telephone conversations and meetings. This was due to inadequate sound-isolating windows throughout the facility. Our firm recommended the installation of mock-up window assemblies in selected areas. This treatment proved to be effective in reducing BART noise and improving speech intelligibility. Retrofit windows were then installed throughout the four-story Administration Tower building.
