Tri-City Lofts, Oakland, CA

Architect: Jim Orjala, Berkeley, CA

This project required multiple acoustical services including environmental noise analysis, interior sound isolation, mechanical vibration isolation, and ventilation system noise control. Salter conducted several 24-hour acoustical measurements and offset measurements. Our consultants analyzed the results, calculated future traffic levels, and provided recommendations to meet applicable City and State noise standards.

While addressing sound isolation, our firm worked with the architect to provide appropriate wall assemblies, floor-ceiling assemblies, and doors to meet Title 24 guidelines as well as meeting industry standard criteria for market-rate housing.

In addition to architectural sound isolation, we consulted on vibration isolation of mechanical equipment, ventilation noise in the residential units, and exterior noise in units from the fresh-air intake design (code-mandated). We reviewed the ventilation system specifications and provided recommendations to meet the Oakland property line noise ordinance criteria.
