Stanford University James H. Clark Center, Palo Alto, CA

Architect: Foster + Partners, London, UK and Perkins+Will, San Francisco, CA

Located in the heart of Stanford's campus, this world-renowned research facility consists of three wings of laboratories that curve around an open courtyard. Natural light from the courtyard enters the subterranean lecture space through sound-isolated glass windows.

CSA provided acoustical input for the 146,000 square foot science and technology research center with wet labs, dry labs, laser labs, a vivarium, glass-walled office spaces, and an auditorium. Issues that were addressed include speech privacy, room acoustics, sound insulation, and mechanical noise and vibration reduction.
