Bankhead Theater, Livermore, CA

Architect: MacCracken Architects, San Francisco, CA

Completed in September of 2007, this 507-seat theater serves 8 local performing arts organizations as well as civic lectures and science education classes. The facility presents a variety of performing arts such as opera, symphony, dance, chorus, film, and touring artists. Our firm worked on the acoustical design issues that included sound system design, theater acoustics, HVAC noise reduction, and sound isolation. Our main focus for sound isolation was the noise and vibration being emitted from the railway line approximately 200 yards from the stage. Unique features include an under-floor air supply system in the theater.
