Grammy Museum, Los Angeles, CA

Architect: Gallagher & Associates, San Francisco, CA

This 30,000 square foot, four-story museum is part of the LA Live Sports and Entertainment district. It features interactive exhibits about the Grammys and the music recording process. The museum offers music classes, screens films, and hosts live performances in their 200-seat theater. Sound-isolating assemblies included a concrete floating floor, a ceiling supported on springs, and double walls separated by an air space. Ventilation and plumbing equipment were isolated to reduce structure-borne noise. Ducts were treated to reduce fan discharge noise and to eliminate duct crosstalk. At many locations, sound-absorbing materials were concealed with perforated metal and wood grills.
