Alexander K. Salter, PE | Principal Consultant

Joining Charles M. Salter Associates in 2003, Alex’s initial inspiration to pursue a career in acoustics occurred while taking an experimental vibrations class and studying how environmental factors affect vibrating materials. As a member of ASHRAE, Alex was included in discussions to help the City of San Francisco deal with the health effects of noise and air pollution generated by vehicle traffic. Alex's efforts encouraged the local chapter of ASHRAE to join forces with the Health Department in an initiative to benefit the welfare of people living in San Francisco.

Alex's typical projects include civic facilities, residential mixed-use projects, hotels and resorts, and hospitals. He has been involved in the design of The Century in Los Angeles (a proposed LEED® Silver project) and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Recently, he worked on the Brower Center and Oxford Plaza, a mixed-use, transit-oriented development located near UC Berkeley. The Brower Center was the first LEED® Platinum certified building on the West Coast.
