Elisabeth S. Kelson, CTS | Principal Consultant

Elisabeth’s relationship with audiovisual technology stems from her experiences as a musician. She spent a decent portion of her young adult years performing as a classical bassoonist in chamber groups and orchestras throughout New England and along the East Coast.

In tandem with her musical pursuits, she became a keen observer of acoustical spaces and gained interest in the scientific and technical aspects of music and sound. This interest led her to an intensive 5-year double-degree program that combined training in classical performance with rigorous studies in audio sciences, including electrical engineering, music recording, and acoustics. After a year of further studies, she earned a Master’s in Acoustics.

In addition to her extensive technical and musical education, Elisabeth brings a wealth of professional experience to Charles M. Salter Associates. She has worked as broadcast engineer and production coordinator for radio, as recording engineer at the Aspen Music Festival, and as part of the engineering and design department at Definitive Technology, a consumer loudspeaker company based in Maryland. Elisabeth’s range of experiences allows her to see design projects from a detailed and technical standpoint, as well as from a broader aesthetic and conceptual view.
